Tackle Complex Problems

Our MCM program uses a OneHealth approach to address conservation challenges, recognizing the interconnection between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. Issues including emerging and resurging diseases, habitat-use conflicts, environmental contamination, ecosystem and climate change, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem function degradation transcend the boundaries of conservation biology, veterinary medicine, public health, and environmental health. To help solve these multifaceted issues, you will look beyond the traditional science—to examine the political, cultural, and economic impacts.

“I have loved animals and veterinary medicine for as long as I can remember, but while at university I was exposed to conservation science during my time in a biogeochemistry lab [that focused] on conservation projects. My newly found love for conservation and my tried-and-true passion for helping animals are what led me to the MCM program. I’m eager to use the knowledge I gained during this program to further enhance my ability to aid in the conservation and care of animals all over the world.”

–Aria Stewart, Tufts MCM Class of 2020
