Gain the data analytics and artificial intelligence skills to get ahead in your career

Today, organizations across every industry are generating data faster than ever and struggling to find skilled individuals to make sense of it. The demand isn’t just for technical skills. Employers need professionals who can clean, analyze, and interpret complex datasets, then communicate what they mean in ways that drive real decisions.

With a master’s degree or certificate in data analytics from Tufts University, you’ll gain the marketable skills needed to gather, interpret, and make data-driven decisions in a booming field expected to grow 26% by 2028. Our top-rated program is built for the real world in close coordination with industry employers.

Choose from our four programs:

  • Master of Science in Data Analytics
Become an expert in transforming complex data into clear, actionable insight. The M.S. in Data Analytics develops professionals across industries with the analytical, technical, and communication skills employers are asking for right now. You’ll build expertise in AI, machine learning, statistics, and data storytelling across a broad range of fields. Most students complete the program in two years, but it can be completed in one year with accelerated study. Full- and part-time options are offered.

  • Online Certificate in Data Analytics
The fully online Certificate in Data Analytics consists of four courses that can be taken in the evenings and completed in as little as one year. Like the master’s program, it’s designed to be applicable across virtually any field. Students in this program learn to gather, interpret, and communicate data to guide real decisions. The certificate is an ideal entry point for professionals who want a recognized data analytics credential while having the option to build toward the full master’s degree.

  • Spatial Data Analytics Certificate
Those interested in data science—and the technical skills needed to build and manage data systems—may want to consider a Spatial Data Analytics Certificate. Topics covered include spatial statistics analysis, machine learning (ML), modeling, and visualization, as well as advanced coding and statistical methods. Flexible options include evening, weekend, and online courses, and the certificate can be completed in three to four semesters.

  • Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
GIS tools and data help researchers, policymakers, and community members visualize, explore, and interpret information across space. GIS knowledge empowers understanding of spatial relationships, patterns, and trends—skills in high demand across many industries. Flexible study options include evenings, weekends, and online, and the certificate can be completed in three to four semesters.

Study Data Analytics Your Way

Our innovative courses are available with a mix of day, evening, and online options, and the interdisciplinary program design lets you take electives across Arts & Sciences. You can tailor your studies to the industries and domains you want to work in. Credits earned in a Tufts data analytics certificate can also transfer toward the master’s degree if you are accepted to the program. Both federal financial aid and merit scholarships are available for full-time students.

At Tufts, data analytics is about more than technical proficiency. Our curriculum emphasizes analytical thinking, critical thinking, ethics, and the ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences. You’ll work with real, often messy datasets from government sources and industry sponsors, learning to clean, explore, analyze, and present data through compelling storytelling.

Courses in machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI are taught by industry professionals who bring direct experience from careers as data scientists, machine learning researchers, and analysts. Students gain hands-on experience building AI systems using tools like PyTorch and TensorFlow/Keras, graduating with both the skills and portfolios they will need to build successful careers.

Generous Scholarships are Available

Tufts University offers merit and need-based tuition scholarships for graduate programs, as well as fellowships and other special funding opportunities. Be sure to indicate your interest within the Financial Aid section of your application.
